Papaya Notes is a simple, easy to use and yet powerful note-taking application that helps you organize your thoughts, ideas, and documents with rich text editing, organization tools, and AI-powered features.

Is Papaya Notes free to use?

Yes, Papaya Notes is currently free to use with all its core features. We may introduce premium features in the future.

How do I start using Papaya Notes?

Simply open the application in your web browser. No account creation is required as all data is stored locally on your device.

Which browsers are supported?

Account & Settings

Do I need to create an account?

No, Papaya Notes works without an account. All your data is stored locally on your device.

How do I customize the editor settings?

  1. Click the settings icon in the sidebar
  2. Adjust your preferences for:
    • Theme (Light/Dark)
    • Font size
    • Default view
    • Autosave interval
    • Keyboard shortcuts

Can I sync my notes across devices?

Currently, Papaya Notes stores data locally. For cross-device access:

  1. Use the built-in backup feature
  2. Export your notes
  3. Import them on another device

Notes Management

How do I create a new note?

  • Click the "+" button in the sidebar
  • Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl/Cmd + N
  • Click "Create New Note" in the empty editor

How does autosave work?

Notes are automatically saved:

  • Every 30 seconds
  • When you switch notes
  • When you close the editor You can also manually save using Ctrl/Cmd + S.

Where are my notes stored?

Notes are stored locally in your browser's IndexedDB storage.

How do I recover deleted notes?

  1. Click the "Trash" folder in the sidebar
  2. Find your deleted note
  3. Click "Restore" Notes remain in trash for 30 days before permanent deletion.

  • Exit using Escape key
  • Removes distractions for concentrated writing

How do I organize my notes?

  • Create folders for hierarchical organization
  • Use tags for flexible categorization

How do I create and manage folders?

  1. Click "New Folder" in sidebar

How do I password protect notes?

Is my data secure?

Troubleshooting

My notes aren't saving

Check:

  1. Browser storage isn't full
  2. You're online (for auto-backup)
  3. No browser extensions interfering
  4. Clear browser cache if needed

The editor is slow/unresponsive

Try:

  1. Close other browser tabs
  2. Clear browser cache
  3. Disable unused extensions
  4. Check your internet connection
  5. Reduce note size/content

I can't find my notes

  1. Check the search function
  2. Look in all folders
  3. Check trash
  4. Verify filters/tags
  5. Check recent backups

Error loading templates

  1. Refresh the page
  2. Clear browser cache
  3. Check internet connection
  4. Reinstall the application
